Margery A. Greenberg, Esq’s Op-Ed Published in New York
Daily News
Partner and Chair of DNZ’s Matrimonial & Family Law
Department was recently featured in the New York Daily News in an Op-Ed
entitled “A guide what not to do in a marriage”. In the article, Margery
shares her perspective as a matrimonial attorney on the premise of “Strangers:
A Memoir on Marriage” by Belle Burden. While not taking issue with
Burden's story, Margery opines that it misses something important: how much we
shape and are shaped by our partners over time, quietly participating in the
creation of the very person we later fail to recognize, whom Burden calls a
"stranger." Margery also points to one of Burden's earliest and
most telling missteps: disregarding her own attorney's advice while negotiating
her prenuptial agreement. In that sense, her book reads as a cautionary tale, a
look at what can unfold when sound legal counsel goes unheeded.
