Scott Terrillion is a partner in the firm's Fractional
General Counsel Practice and Head of the Strategic Life Sciences Practice Group. His practice focuses on advising emerging and
growth-stage life sciences companies on the legal, business, and governance
issues that accompany corporate growth, from financing and product development
through commercialization, strategic transactions, regulatory compliance, and
corporate governance.
Mr. Terrillion has spent more than thirty-five years in the
healthcare and life sciences industry, serving in executive leadership, legal
and business roles within managed care, private practice, publicly traded
biotechnology companies, and a global research-driven pharmaceutical company. Throughout his career, he has worked closely
with executive management teams and boards of directors on the strategic, legal,
and operational issues faced by life sciences companies.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Terrillion served as General
Counsel, Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer of Cara Therapeutics, a
publicly traded biopharmaceutical company, where he served as principal legal
advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, executive management team, and Board of
Directors. Previously, he served as Vice
President, Associate General Counsel and Head of Compliance at Mesoblast, Inc.,
a publicly traded biotechnology company.
Earlier, he spent fifteen years with Boehringer Ingelheim
Pharmaceuticals, a Fortune Global 500 research-driven pharmaceutical company,
ultimately serving as Vice President, Associate General Counsel responsible for
the legal support of the company's multibillion-dollar U.S. branded
pharmaceutical business and as a member of both the U.S. pharmaceutical
executive management team and the company's global legal leadership team. Earlier in his career, Mr. Terrillion served
as Director of Pharmacy for Preferred Care, Inc., an HMO insurance provider,
practiced healthcare, litigation and intellectual property law with Nixon,
Hargrave, Devans & Doyle (now Nixon Peabody LLP), and began his
professional career as a licensed pharmacist.
In these roles, Mr. Terrillion worked with executive
management on the legal, business and governance matters associated with
building and growing life sciences companies. His experience spans corporate governance, capital
formation, technology licensing, commercial product launches, mergers and
acquisitions, government reimbursement, regulatory compliance, and government
affairs. In addition to working with
executive management and boards of directors on strategic legal and business
matters, Mr. Terrillion has partnered closely with functional leadership across
the business to navigate the legal, regulatory, and operational issues that affect
the day-to-day operations of a life sciences company. His executive responsibilities also included
establishing and leading legal, compliance, human resources, and quality
organizations.
